Shirakawa-gō
UNESCO gassho farmhouses & snowscapes
Shirakawa-go — a UNESCO World Heritage village in the remote Shogawa River valley — stuns with its iconic gasshō-zukuri thatched farmhouses, some over 250 years old, that appear to emerge directly from the deep winter snowpack. The village of Ogimachi is the finest preservation of Japanese rural life anywhere in the country.
FFGR Japan provides private transfers from Kanazawa, Takayama or Nagoya, with winter visits timed for the spectacular Shirakawa-go Light-Up illumination events.
