Hiroshima Private Chauffeur — Peace Memorial, Miyajima & the Inland Sea

May 13, 2026 · 8 min read · FFGR Japan VIP Team

Hiroshima is one of the most historically significant cities on earth and one of Japan's most culturally rich destinations. The Peace Memorial Park requires an unhurried, respectful visit that private transport makes possible. Beyond the memorial, the region offers Miyajima's floating torii, the UNESCO castle town of Onomichi, and some of the finest coastal driving in western Japan.

Arriving in Hiroshima

Hiroshima Shinkansen Station is served by Nozomi and Hikari from Tokyo (4 hours), Kyoto (1h 20m), and Osaka (1h). FFGR Japan provides private transfer from the bullet train's Shinkansen exit — our driver meets at the bottom of the escalator, not the general arrivals hall — and from Hiroshima Airport (HIJ).

For clients arriving by private aircraft, Hiroshima Airport handles light jets; ultra-long-range arrivals position at Osaka Kansai and transfer by road or shinkansen. Our team coordinates onward surface transfers with equal precision from either airport.

Peace Memorial Park — A Visit Done Properly

The museum opens at 08:30 and is overwhelmed by school groups by 09:30. An early private-vehicle arrival — parked in the Heiwa-odori basement lot — allows an uninterrupted visit to the A-Bomb Dome, Children's Peace Monument, and permanent exhibition before crowds arrive.

For clients with diplomatic standing, FFGR Japan can arrange private briefings through Hiroshima City's international liaison office. These arrangements require a minimum of two weeks' advance coordination.

Miyajima Island — the Floating Torii

Miyajima is reached by ferry from Miyajima-guchi port, 30 minutes south of Hiroshima. FFGR Japan drives directly to the pier; our concierge pre-purchases priority boarding. We time the crossing to coincide with high tide so the torii appears to float.

Beyond the torii: Daisho-in Temple, the deer-populated path to Momijidani Park, and cable-car access to Mount Misen at 535 metres. Our programme is timed to the tide chart — never the reverse.

Onomichi & the Shimanami Kaido

For clients with a full day, FFGR Japan can extend east to Onomichi — a hillside port with eleven temple corridors — and onto the Shimanami Kaido, the 60-km bridge expressway connecting Honshu to Shikoku across six Inland Sea islands.

The Shimanami Kaido can be driven as a full-day extension, returning to overnight at Onomichi U2 — a converted maritime warehouse and one of Japan's design hotels of reference. We pre-book rooms on request.

Hiroshima Cuisine & Private Dining

Hiroshima's layered okonomiyaki — with noodles, cabbage, pork, and egg — is the city's culinary identity. Micchan (est. 1950) and Okonomimura's upper floors are the recommended addresses; our desk pre-books the chef's counter to avoid the queue forming by 18:00.

For private dining with a river view facing the illuminated A-Bomb Dome, we work with a small number of private rooms not publicly listed, accessible via our concierge network.

Booking Your Hiroshima Programme

One-day programmes from Osaka or Kyoto are bookable with 48 hours' notice. Vehicle, Peace Memorial early-access timing, Miyajima tide coordination, and lunch reservation are standard inclusions.

For clients combining Hiroshima with a multi-city programme — Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Fukuoka — FFGR Japan coordinates the full shinkansen-and-private-car sequence with a single point of contact throughout.
